Hydrostatic Head

Textile materials and Fabrics that claim to be water proof need validation

Manufacturers and retailers that make claims about a products function and performance need to validate such claims. Outdoor clothing and fabrics that are reputed to be water repellent or that have been coated to impart resistance to water penetration need to be tested to back up these claims.

The Hydrostatic head test is used to measure the penetration of water. It is a very useful test for rainwear and can also be carried out on the seams where typically problems first occur.

The test is has applications in several specifications for protective clothing, awnings and camping tents where typically coated fabrics are used.

As an independent laboratory, NZWTA provides confidence in your fabric and product design, allowing you to build trust in your brand.
