Preventing Water Damage to Laminate Floors

Topical Moisture

Water and Laminate flooring do not mix!

The NZBC has a functional requirement of impervious surfaces to prevent illness, injury or damage through accumulation of moisture, or damage caused by free water penetration.

Internal hardwood flooring products and systems need to help make the building they are installed in; safe, durable and fit for purpose.

Impervious: That which does not allow the passage of moisture.

NZWTA Textiles and Materials can test your hard flooring products to the ISO 4760 Laminate flooring – Topical moisture resistance standard.

Passing this test Offers an alternative solution to gain compliance to the New Zealand building Code clause requiring buildings to be constructed to avoid fungal growth and excessive moisture.
